浅間山の怒りが生んだ黒の芸術、溶岩の迷宮「鬼押し出し園」で自然の力を体感。
浅間山の噴火によって生まれた溶岩地帯を整備した園内は、まるで異世界。黒く荒々しい岩肌に囲まれながら、自然の力強さと美しさを体感できる。春夏秋冬、それぞれの表情が楽しめるスポット。
1783年に浅間山が噴火(天明の大噴火)したときに噴出した溶岩流が固化。浅間山の北側4㎞くらいに位置し、遊歩道を回るだけでも１時間くらい掛かる広大な園内に、今だに風化していない荒々しい溶岩が見渡す限り広がる異様な光景は一度は見る価値あり。また、浅間山は現在も噴煙を上げる活火山です。天明の大噴火はわずか240年前の出来事で、最近100年間でも大小の噴火が頻発し、被害も発生しています。鬼押出し園のさらに北8km に天明の大噴火の土石流でほぼ壊滅した鎌原村で、辛うじて残った観音堂が。今は開発が進み別荘や観光施設が建ち並んでいます。
