Saruhashi Bridge, an unusual bridge with no piers and a timber structure, is one of Japan’s three most unusual bridges. Its appearance as if floating over the Katsura River evokes the craftsmanship and aesthetic sense of the Edo period. Covered in cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in autumn, the view of the valley from the bridge is like a picture scroll. It is a relaxing walkway where history and nature blend together.
