Located in the center of Gion, this is one of Kyoto’s most powerful spots. There are many things to see, such as the vermilion-lacquered tower gate, the dance hall, and the Okuninushi Shrine, which is said to be a shrine for matchmaking. You can also visit at night, and the fantastic atmosphere of the lanterns is a must-see. It is also the stage for the portable shrine procession during the Gion Festival in July.
